If you’ve created a shortcut on your desktop and it keeps randomly disappearing, here’s the fix:

|type in the word: troubleshooting
Press the “Enter” key.
|Just start typing the word: troubleshooting
Click on the word “troubleshooting”.
When the troubleshooting screen opens click the “Change settings” link in the left column.
Under “Computer Maintenance” select the “Off” radio button. Click OK at the bottom. Close the Troubleshooting screen.
Note: You may lose your shortcuts one more time but they should not disappear more than once.
