Kialo – Debate Tool


With all the hot topics in the news lately, here’s a platform to create a debate. Issues are discussed with reason and backed by data (internet links). All student voices can be “heard.”

Create your own debate topic, even if it’s already been done or join an existing one. The discussion threads are easy to create and easy to follow. Students can sign up with their school Google accounts.

Explore existing debates:

Potential Uses:
Debate a topic in Spanish
Create a book talk – Pros/Cons of certain characters, topics, themes
Political debates
Local issues/concerns
School issues/concerns

To view an existing debate, click the topic and scroll down to the bottom. Click on the blue box that says, “Enter discussion”.
Participants can vote on a claim (statement).
You can see how many comments are made per claim.
You can mark the claim as “seen” so you can keep track of where you’ve been.
You can see if a claim appears to be a duplicate claim.
