Corn Bread

1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
¾ cup Quaker or Aunt Jemima enriched corn meal
¼ cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup skim milk
¼ cup vegetable oil
1 egg beaten
  1. Heat oven to 400° and grease 8 inch pan.
  2. Combine dry ingredients and make a well in the center.
  3. Mix milk, oil, and egg.
  4. Stir liquid ingredients into dry ingredients, mixing just until dry ingredients are moistened.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  6. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown and wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
