Knowing I make a difference. Creating a better tomorrow. Working with children. Helping learning happen. Memorable moments with my children. Being in great company. Getting paid to "Fly a Kite", Watch a Volcano Erupt and Drop Everything and Read. Rewards that money can't buy. Seeing a student's face light up. Building a sense of accomplishment in others. Shaping lives, dreams, and futures. Each day is an adventure. Playing at recess even over age 40. Having someone else cook lunch. Recognizing my job is important--everyday of the school year.
Professional and Educational Background
I attended Iowa State University and received my Bachelor of Science Degree in 1986. I taught 1st and 2nd grade for the next 9 years, during that time I earned my Masters Degree from Drake University. I joined the MOC-Floyd Valley CSD at Hospers Elementary in 1994.
Life Outside Hospers Elementary
I live on a farm near Alton with my husband Jeff, daughter Leah and son Collin. We enjoy traveling to Wisconsin to see family, Ames to cheer on the Cyclones, watching the POD Marching Band and cheering for the Dutchmen. Our family enjoys going out to eat, attending various sporting events and watching movies. Golfing with my family and some extremely close friends helps me enjoy the summer in Alton. My favorite pastime is reading and I thoroughly enjoy helping everyone at Hospers Elementary develop a love of reading.
